A quick 30-minute drive west of Downtown Houston, the Briar Forest-West Houston community feels like a refreshing oasis away from the busy pace of the urban streets. Although its proximity to the Beltway and Interstate 10 makes for an effortless escape to the city’s major attractions, the feel-good, neighborly vibes will make you never want to stray far from its borders. Block parties, casual get-togethers at local restaurants, and summertime hangs at the community pool are a part of everyday life for this area’s residents — as are local holiday celebrations, such as fireworks on the Fourth of July and extravagant displays of Christmas decorations. Then, there’s casual dining hang Flip’n Patties, where the all-American burger gets a huge upgrade with an infusion of traditional Filipino flavors. Finally, diners can dip their way through H-Town’s favorite take on hummus at popular Persian grill Kasra.
