Located southwest of Downtown, the Bellaire - Medical Center Community might only sit a few minutes from Downtown, but it feels like a world away. Four smaller neighborhoods comprise this district: University Place, Braeswood Place, the Medical Center Area, and the Astrodome Area.


Home to Rice University and the Museum of Fine Arts, University Place has the aspirational feel (and leafy landscape) of similar academic epicenters. With numerous single-family homes and a highly-rated school system, Braeswood Place welcomes kids and adults alike. Doctors and nurses in scrubs are a frequent sight in the Texas Medical Area, which contains 21 world-class hospitals within its borders. Football fans can root for the Texans in their own backyard by living around the corner from NRG Park in the Astrodome Area.
