5465 S Hyde Park Blvd Apartments

Finally bought our own place after living in a series of high rises. It's a large Hyde Park vintage in a 6-flat. We get along well with the other owners and the building is setting aside money for some major repairs. Out unit needs significant upgrades (hadn't really had anything done in 30 years) which we are mostly hiring out. It feels wonderful to be free of rent and to have our own asset, and the space in our new home is great. Hyde Park is a great neighborhood that is very family friendly and very authentic, if a little sketchy at times. We do miss some of the amenities of South Loop high rises, but the prices to get 4 bedrooms are astronomical, and the neighborhood is overly homogenous and yuppie in character. Being that we have a family now, and that I walk to work at the UodC hospital, we much prefer being in this neighborhood.
